Toronto FC made a significant overhaul this offseason, with 17 players either moving on or departing the club (18 if you include the impending departure of Kemar Lawrence).

Some have already settled into their new homes, while others are still trying to find their footing with their new clubs, and a few are still looking for their next landing spot.

Here's the latest on Toronto FC's former players and what they're up to now.

Jozy Altidore: Arguably the most significant departure of the Toronto FC offseason, Altidore was bought out by the Reds and then proceeded to sign with the New England Revolution. He’s made four brief appearances — all off the bench totalling 73 minutes of action — and scored his first goal as a member of the Revs over the weekend in a 3-2 loss to Real Salt Lake.

Auro Jr.: Perhaps the most surprising move of the offseason, TFC loaned Auro Jr. (with an option to purchase) to Brazilian side Santos FC. Per sources, the decision was based on Auro’s (lack of) commitment to the club and unwillingness to buy-in to the new regime. The 26-year-old Brazilian fullback made his first appearance for his new club over the weekend, playing 90 minutes as a right-back in a 1-0 loss to Palmeiras.

Nick DeLeon: DeLeon is one of two members of the 2021 Toronto FC squad that remains unsigned. The 31-year-old MLS veteran was the subject of heavy criticism from the Toronto FC fanbase for his views on COVID-19 (and being vaccinated), and recently opened up about his struggle off the pitch last season as a result of the global pandemic. The veteran also had injury problems the past two years, including a nagging back issue which forced him to miss time.

Mark Delgado: Delgado was traded to his hometown LA Galaxy this offseason for $400,000 in GAM (that could rise to $500,000) — a move which could end up being one of the deals of the offseason for Greg Vanney’s squad. The 26-year-old midfielder has gone the full 90 in each of LA’s first three games this season and found himself on the MLS Team of the Week in Week 2. He’s completing passes at an 87 per cent clip, the highest of his career so far.

Julian Dunn: In one of the first moves of the offseason, Dunn exercised his right as a free agent and signed with Norwegian club HamKam, who officially begin their season in April. Dunn has been starting with HamKam in preseason friendlies, and even scored a goal in one of the club’s first three matches.

Dom Dwyer: In a salary-dump move, Dwyer and the third-overall pick was traded to FC Dallas this offseason in exchange for $50,000 in GAM. Dallas proceeded to buy out Dwyer, who was touted to receive a significant pay increase in 2022, per source. Dwyer then was invited as a trialist with Atlanta United, where he earned a two-year deal. He has made two substitute appearances for The Five Stripes and started his season off with a bang – scoring a golazo on opening day.

Tsubasa Endoh: Endoh is living a good life right now, soaking up the hot sun in Australia after signing a six-month contract with Melbourne City FC this offseason. The 28-year-old former MLS SuperDraft pick has made two brief appearances off the bench in the A-League Men, the highest-level professional men's soccer league in Australia and New Zealand

Liam Fraser: In one of the least surprising moves of the offseason, Fraser signed with Belgian second division side KMSK Deinze as a free agent. He’s played an important role since arriving, making six starts as a central defensive midfielder registering one assist. Unfortunately, Deinze has fell behind in their push for promotion after picking up just five points in their last five matches.

Erickson Gallardo: Gallardo returned to Venezula and signed for his former club Zamora FC. The 25-year-old winger has gone the full 90 minutes in two appearances, scoring a goal in each match. In 19 career matches for Toronto FC and TFC II, he failed to find the back of the net once.

Omar Gonzalez: Gonzalez, who had his option declined by Toronto FC this offseason, is settling in well alongside Altidore with the New England Revolution. The 33-year-old centre-back has made three appearances – including going the full 90 in the Revs’ recent 3-0 win over UNAM Pumas in Concacaf Champions League action.

Richie Laryea: The Canadian international got his dream move to Nottingham Forest as TFC sold their prized fullback for $1 million. Unfortunately, it’s been anything but the dream start for Laryea, who has yet to make an appearance for his new club, who are in the midst of a playoff push in the EFL Championship. In fact, he’s only made the bench three times in 12 matches since his move.

Justin Morrow: Morrow retired at the end of last season and subsequently joined the front office as Toronto FC’s Technical Development Manager, where he’s assisting the pathway development between the Academy, TFC II, and first team, as well as leading Equity Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) efforts. Jacob Shaffelburg and Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty, who are making the transition to fullback this season, have both cited Morrow as helping them adjust to their new roles.

Patrick Mullins: Surprisingly, Mullins remains without a club ahead of the 2022 campaign. The 30-year-old striker had his worst season as a pro last year, going goal-less in 25 MLS appearances with the Reds. He’s an amazing locker room guy, and at his best, is capable of providing depth scoring with 27 goals in 164 career MLS games.

Kevin Silva: Toronto FC’s third-string goalkeeper the past two seasons, Silva signed with Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC of the USL Championship ahead of the 2022 season.

Luke Singh: According to manager Bob Bradley, Singh struggled in preseason with Toronto FC and was subsequently loaned out to Canadian Premier League side FC Edmonton, where he’s expected to play a big role in 2022. Bradley is hoping that the loan stint away from the club helps the 21-year-old centre-back mature into a more consistent, reliable defender.

Yeferson Soteldo: Soteldo was sold to Liga MX’s Tigres UANL with new designated player Carlos Salcedo coming to Toronto in what was essentially a swap deal. The 24-year-old winger hit the ground running with his new side, registering two assists in a 2-1 win over Atlético San Luis, but since then hasn’t done much. In total, Soteldo has made six appearances – all off the bench – totaling 173 minutes for the Mexican club.

Eriq Zavaleta: Surprise, surprise. After his contract option was declined by the Reds this offseason, Zavaleta recently signed with the LA Galaxy for the 2022 MLS season with a club option for 2023. He’ll join his uncle (Greg Vanney) in LA, where he spent the last couple of weeks on trial.
